A unique piece from Puno

Given the place of their home, the Puno people create garments to protect themselves from the low temperatures. Garments made with alpaca wool, a native animal of the country. This fibre is considered one of the finest in the world. The artisans shear it carefully, always taking care of the animal's welfare, in a process that is carried out once a year when the animals do not need their natural coat to cover themselves from the cold. After the different processes to obtain the clean and organised wool, the spinning is done and then the weaving begins on a pedal loom, and a soft and authentic piece is made with unique designs of the Peruvian community, in a period of 4 - 7 days, depending on the garment.
