A unique piece from Wounaan o Noanamá.

The Wounaan or Noanamá indigenous people live in the Chocó jungles, a pioneer community in the creation of baskets or “Werregue cocas”. Using a basket weaving technique by rolling and needle sewing, the artisans use the fiber from the buds of the wérregue palm to create geometric designs and figures inspired by nature and the worldview of the community. Following a laborious process that requires patience and skill. While the making of an average piece takes around twenty days, larger ones can require up to a year of work.
