The most known are: Wayuu, Emberá, Arhuaco, Kogui, and Nasa.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN

Over 65 Indigenous languages are spoken in addition to Spanish (the national language). Many of these languages are still passed down today, such as Wayuunaiki, Nasa Yuwe, and Ticuna.

ARTISAN CRAFTS

Colombian craftsmanship is world-famous!

  • Wayuu handwoven bags — made by the Wayuu people in the desert region of La Guajira. Each bag is colorful and carries patterns that tell family or spiritual stories.
  • Filigree jewelry — from places like Mompox: delicate gold or silver threads shaped into flowers, birds, and spirals.
  • Black pottery — from the town of La Chamba. Made from local clay and polished by hand to give it a rich, dark finish used for cooking and decoration.
